This is an amazing archival live recording of a show I played with David First with our short-lived band Matter Waves. We were trying to figure out a way to make intense rock music with microtones and using those pulsing tones to dictate the subdivisions of the drums. Very interesting idea! This live recording featured Rhys Chatham. . .Bernard Gann played bass. This album is available online and via CD but honestly the label completely dropped the ball and did nothing to promote it at all. It happens but no one knows that it exists. You should check it out!

The other hilarious thing is that the recording rig died a few minutes into the show – so we’re missing some of the drones in the begining. I’m the drummer so I don’t miss them!

Also – whatever – not a big deal because shit happens all the time – but I don’t love the art. This was a sticking point with the label because they have the same person, who’s very talented, do all their releases. . .but I didn’t like this.
